LA Scores
LA SCORES is a non-profit after school program that serves Title 1 schools using soccer, creative writing, and service learning to inspire the youth of urban Los Angeles. Through this unique approach, SCORES students become engaged in their health, education, and community and learn the values of compassion, creativity, leadership, teamwork, and commitment. Our dedicated staff and coaches teach our poet-athletes by acting as positive role models and using the world’s most popular sport to inspire public school youth.
Our relationship with the community of Palms traces back eight years when the program first launched in LA in 2002. Palms Elementary was one of the first two schools to incorporate the SCORES program and we have since expanded to 3 elementary schools serving 350+ students, one middle school, and an alumni program of 50+ high school students, all within the Palms community.
The growth and development of our program has been a result of the hard work and passion of so many community members. We are grateful to have the support of principals and families who believe in the LA SCORES mission and are thankful to our dedicated coaches and volunteers who deliver our program everyday with passion and enthusiasm. Beyond all else, we are happy to serve a group of students whose excitement and commitment continually inspire us to find ways to make our program better.
LA SCORES continues to provide a safe and engaging after school environment while teaching lessons and sharing values that help empower every SCORES poet-athlete.
