Palms Elementary is tucked away in the diverse and progressive Palms neighborhood, just south of the 10 freeway near the Overland Ave and National Blvd exits. The Palms neighborhood is 137 years old! It is the oldest neighborhood annexed to the City of Los Angeles. The first streets were laid out in 1886, and the area was later annexed into Los Angeles in 1915. The community was set midway between downtown and the Pacific Ocean as an agricultural and vacation community. Today, it is primarily residential with commercial zoning. Our school is located on Motor Ave, which was one of the first paved roads in Palms, built to connect commuters between two of Hollywood's most prominent studios: Fox and MGM (now Sony).
