About Us
Palms Elementary & School for Advanced Studies is a “Hidden Gem” located in the Palms Neighborhood on the west side of Los Angeles. Our diverse student population prides itself on a mosaic of cultures that works collaboratively and cooperatively while engaging in deep reflective learning.
The progressive Palms community gives our school a diversity of cultures with the common goal of creating a nurturing environment where children can develop to their fullest potential. Our Community School designation allows us to focus on integrated student supports, expanded and enriched learning time and opportunities, family and community engagement, and collaborative leadership and practice. Together, these pillars create the conditions necessary for our students to thrive.
Instruction at Palms ES is driven by the Common Core State Standards. We have been honored to collaborate with the UCLA Math Action Project on our CGI Math instruction since 2019. Our on-going work with Systems Thinking is driving our work and guiding our learners into a world of examination as we investigate the inter-connectedness and patterns found in all things. We are partnering with UC San Diego's California Reading & Literature Project to ensure that our students receive high-quality, rigorous, comprehensive literacy instruction responsive to their identities, assets, and needs.
Our inclusive general education setting at Palms include the Language and Literacy in English Acceleration Program, the Mainstream English Program, the Low Incidence Learning Center for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, and the Resource Specialist Program. Palms also has Specific Learning Disability and Deaf/Hard of Hearing Special Day Programs.

The Mission of the Palms Elementary community is to develop productive citizens through a rigorous academic curriculum and appropriate social-emotional guidance.
Vision
Our vision is to create a learning environment that is based on students' construction of their own knowledge. Students will engage in real life problem solving and have access to the global learning community through the use of technology. Our learning environment will provide for differentiation, the infusion of the arts and multi-tiered intervention. Palms strives to be an educational institution where parents are equal partners in the education of their children and our local business community and universities are actively involved.
